The IMPACT Research Group
Illinois Microarchitecture Project utilizing Advanced Compiler Technology
For prospective undergraduate researchers

The IMPACT group typically has two to three undergraduate research positions. Our undergraduate researchers work closely with graduate students on cutting-edge research projects. They must feel comfortable working in a team, be receptive to mentoring, desire to acquire knowledge, work hard to generate knowledge, and take pride in solving hard problems. We usually require our undergraduates to maintain a minimal GPA of 3.6, a level that indicates that the person can maintain good academic progress while pursuing additional research activities.

Many of our past undergraduate researchers have become outstanding graduate students, both at UIUC and in other research institutions. For example, Patrick Eaton received a D.o.D. Fellowship and pursued his Ph.D. at the University of California, Berkeley. John Sias received a DoD Fellowship and stayed with the IMPACT group for his Ph.D. Hillery Hunter received an NSF Fellowship and stayed with the IMPACT group for her Ph.D.

Please contact Professor Hwu with your resume if you are interested in applying for an undergraduate research position with the IMPACT group.
