ECE 462 - Homework 2 Spring 2005 Assigned February 4 Due in class on February 11 Grading policy Answers to only a subset of the questions will be graded for correctness of the answer and the procedure. Credit will be granted for attempting the other questions. Problem numbers below refer to problems in the textbook by McCluskey. (1) Use the Quine-McCluskey tabulation procedure to determine the prime implicants for the function given in Problem 6.1(j). (2) For the function in Problem 6.1(k), determine the minimal sum. using any procedure to determine the prime implicants, and using the prime implicant table method to find the minimal sum. Circle all distinguished fundamental products and essential rows in your table. Draw the 2-level AND-OR circuit obtained using the above minimal sum. (3) For the function in problems 6.1(f), in Homework 1, you were asked to find the prime implicants. Use the prime implicant table method to find the minimal sum for this function. During the above process, if you obtain a cyclic P.I. table, use Petrick's method. (4) Consider the function f(w,x,y,z) = x'y'z' + xz + w'x'y + wx' Use the First Tison Method to determine all the prime implicants of function f. Initially use L = {x'y'z', xz, w'x'y, wx'} (5) Use K-Maps to find the Multiple Output Prime Implicants (MOPIs) for the functions in Problem 6.13(a). (6) Use Quine-McCluskey tabulation to find the MOPIs for the functions in Problem 6.13(a).
